New Barrie Fire and Emergency Communications Centre awarded to Salter Pilon
Salter Pilon Architecture in association with Lett Architects are very pleased to have been chosen to design the new Barrie Fire and Emergency Services Station No. 1 which will replace the existing Station No. 1 currently located in the centre of Barrie. The project will see the redevelopment of the main headquarters facility into a new 30,000+ square foot structure.
Representatives from Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention, Communication, Administration, the City of Barrie and Architects al assembled on September 26, 2007 to discuss and debate the vision for the new station. The purpose of the Visioning was to establish a clear direction and list of goals to steer the project through the design process. From the meeting the following 'vision statement' was established, "The new Station No.1 will be an open, welcoming community-focused building that celebrates the tradition and pride of the fire service while embracing the future. The building shall be a model sustainable design and support the department's dedication to saving lives and commitment to community service."
The project will now proceed into the schematic design phase.
