The I.O.O.F. project is a redevelopment and expansion of the existing “D” category Long-Term Care Facility occurring on the existing site in Barrie. Work included ongoing master-planning, which integrated existing and future facilities including supportive and independent housing as well as retirement living to produce a total community care complex. This project involved a two-phased approach to allow for uninterrupted occupancy throughout construction. Phase One consisted of a new 63,000 square foot, three-storey Long-Term Care wing with 96 beds, including a bridge connection to the central core. Phase Two consisted of a major 55,000 square foot retrofit of the existing home to provide 73 beds, including 14 new beds.
Our firm has also completed various other projects at the IOOF, including a five-storey, 80-unit seniors apartments known as Heritage Place, a variety of minor alteration projects, as well as Master Planning at the site. We believe this ongoing relationship with the IOOF is testament to our skills and knowledge of long-term care design and construction.
