Alison has been surrounded in creative talent of the built environment from an early age, namely her father Millet Salter, founder of Salter Pilon Architecture, and her mother who sold interior furnishings. Since graduating from Interior Design at Fanshawe College in 1983, Alison has amassed four decades of interior design and product selection expertise. From decadent wall finishes and extravagant lighting garnishes to high-impact flooring systems and pragmatic accessibility hardware, she has excelled at critical curations in supporting renowned landmark and award-winning architecture for the firm. Her accomplishments in institutional interior design for long-term care and educational facilities are memorable and substantiated by her impact on the lives, performance levels and wellbeing of the occupants.
Alison has been one of four experts in an advisory committee invited by LDI Interiors (U.S.) to lead development of fabrics and acoustic panel finishes for healthcare environments. An attribute to her unique understanding of patient wellness and recovery, she is providing relevant feedback on current trends to support design of new product launches for mass production.

Alison, inspired at an early age by her father Millet Salter, the founder of Salter Pilon Architecture, and her mother, who sold interior furnishings, has been around Architecture and Interior Design her entire life. Graduating from Interior Design at Fanshawe College in 1983, Alison brings 39 years of design experience to each project. As a Registered Interior Designer with ARIDO, and a LEED accredited professional, she has contributed to a diverse range of projects and building sectors, with four decades of school and institutional design and most notably Georgian Village, Richcraft Recreation Centre (LEED Gold), Grey Bruce Health Unit (LEED Gold), Infrastructure Ontario Rapid School Pilot Project, Ontario Provincial Police General Headquarters, and Casino Woodbine. Alison is acutely aware of the impact design has on the health and well being of the end user in learning environments. Alison collaborates with every client to realize their goals, and has continued to create interiors that are attractive, functional, and contribute positively to the built environment. Her involvement over the life of a project ensures the warmth, comfort, and safety the client has come to know in their own home which is specifically supportive of learning environments and childcare spaces.
