The success of the Saugeen Shores Aquatic and Wellness Centre project fostered confidence in the Town’s long-term vision, leading to additional scope with a major renovation to the Municipal Offices and Council Chambers to be included with construction. Building on the trust established during the aquatic and recreation engagement, the Town recognized the ability to leverage the Construction Manager with cost benefits to modernize and unify the administrative spaces within the existing facility.

The renovation reimagined the municipal workplace as an open, collaborative environment that balances public transparency with staff privacy and comfort. The design introduced a new public-facing reception shared with the Aquatic and Wellness Centre, allowing residents to access civic services and community recreation through a single welcoming entrance.
The reconfigured Council Chambers were expanded by one-third, featuring a circular seating configuration, state-of-the-art AV systems, and accessible design for both council members and the public. Warm wood finishes, biophilic flooring patterns, and lighting inspired by the Lake Huron shoreline give the space a sense of local identity and civic pride. Artwork by a local First Nations artist anchors the chamber, commemorating the community’s inaugural Friendship Accord.

Administrative areas were restructured into flexible work zones with touchdown desks, acoustic partitions, and a shared breakout space known as The Commons—a casual meeting and gathering area supporting staff well-being. Upgraded washrooms, improved accessibility, and enhanced acoustics throughout the facility further reinforce the Town’s investment in an inclusive, healthy workplace.
By reimagining its municipal offices and uniting recreation, governance, and community services within one cohesive design vision, Saugeen Shores has created a place where residents, staff, and Council connect—a shared environment that reflects the Town’s values of openness, wellness, and community pride.
