The Pickering Casino Resort represents a new generation of integrated entertainment design in Ontario—one that unites energy, sophistication, and hospitality under a single brand experience. As Interior Design leader, Salter Pilon Architecture (SPA) was tasked with crafting the interior identity of the province’s newest resort casino for Great Canadian Entertainment, shaping a destination that merges excitement with refinement and operational efficiency.

The resort’s 96,000 sq. ft. gaming floor anchors the experience with over 2,300 slot machines, 90 table games, and a modern stadium gaming zone. SPA’s design approach prioritized atmosphere and flow—balancing spectacle and comfort through sculpted ceilings, layered lighting, and resilient finishes built for a 24-hour operation. The gaming hall ceiling, featuring geometric lighting bands and integrated acoustics, became a signature visual landmark—later influencing the design of Great Canadian’s Toronto resort at Woodbine.
Beyond the gaming floor, SPA designed the resort’s 275-room hotel, public corridors, and amenity spaces, blending modern luxury with practical durability. Natural palettes, rich textures, and custom millwork provide warmth and a sense of retreat for guests arriving from the dynamic gaming environment.

The resort’s dining and entertainment venues were conceived as immersive extensions of the brand. The Copperhorn Meet House, the property’s flagship restaurant, draws inspiration from Alberta’s open landscapes—introducing rustic textures, amber tones, and refined detailing that fuse hospitality storytelling with contemporary dining. The adjoining 2,500-seat performance venue was designed to accommodate a range of events, from concerts to conferences, with pre-function lounges, integrated bars, and acoustic performance design aligned with the resort’s architectural rhythm.
SPA’s interiors carefully weave together guest experience, operational functionality, and compliance with Ontario’s gaming and hospitality standards. The result is a cohesive environment where entertainment and relaxation coexist effortlessly.
The Pickering Casino Resort has since become a touchstone for Great Canadian Entertainment’s Ontario portfolio—establishing design standards, operational strategies, and guest experiences that continue to influence resort developments across the province.
